TEHRAN, Mar. 13 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with his New Zealander counterpart in Wellington on Sunday.

Speaking at a meeting with his counterpart in New Zealand Murray McCully, Iran’s FM deemed McCully’s trip to Iran last year as a good experience inviting him to make another visit to Iran in view of his upcoming trip to Turkey.

McCully also reminded his last June visit to Iran as positive during which he had called for resumption of banking ties.

The two sides further emphasized expansion of ties between the two countries particularly in the field of economy.

Zarif is scheduled to take part in the dinner banquet held by his counterpart on Sunday night.

He arrived in New Zealand capital, Wellington early Saturday as the fifth leg of his Asia-Pacific tour.

Iran’s FM wrapped up his official two-day trip to Thailand and set off for New Zealand Friday evening.

During his stay in New Zealand, Zarif is scheduled to hold talks with the country’s prime minister, foreign minister and a number of other ministers and senior officials on ways to improve relations, particularly in trade and economic sectors.

Zarif paid a two-day visit to Thailand and participated in the 14th Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Ministerial Meeting.
